Health Issues in the Community

What is it?

A course aimed at:

  • increasing community capacity
  • increasing community participation
  • establishing/consolidating community development approaches to tackling inequalities in health.

Health Issues in the Community is ideally suited to help equip local people for the real challenges that they face in developing community responses to health issues and becoming more active citizens.

There are several different ways in which this course can be delivered:

  • as ‘one off’ exercises looking at particular topics;
  • in 'bite size' chunks looking at specific themes such as 'Participation and Power' or 'Inequality';
  • as a whole course accredited by Edinburgh University.

Should a group of people express an interest in the course, we will discuss their needs and wishes as well as their available time to participate. This enables us to tailor it to their requirements and ensures a good experience of learning in an informal setting.
