Health Directions Project

Our ‘Health Directions Project’ is funded by the Scottish Government’s Fairer Scotland Fund and is part of an overall strategy to reduce health inequalities.

What we do:

As well as a focus on improving mental health and wellbeing, we work with groups and individuals to promote health by:

  • helping people to quit smoking;
  • informing people of ways to drink alcohol safely;
  • supporting people to maintain a healthy weight through increased physical activity and eating a healthy diet.

How we do it:

  • we provide information through running and participating in community events in various venues throughout Renfrewshire;
  • we develop and deliver activities and programmes for individuals and groups around the above themes which support positive lifestyle changes;
  • we deliver ‘Health Issues in the Community’ training.

In addition to running groups and attending local community events, our staff visit the WRVS café in Causeyside Street, Paisley every week.  They provide mini health-checks and information about a healthy lifestyle around the topics of smoking, diet & fitness and alcohol awareness.
